Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, the textile industry has maintained a steady and healthy development, played a stabilizer role in previous economic fluctuations, and the status of the pillar industry has not been shaken.

In 1978, the export value of textile industry was US $2.154 billion, accounting for 22.1% of the total export of the whole country, and in 1994, China became the largest exporter of textile and clothing in the world, and it has remained so far. Textile and clothing exports reached $274.51 billion in 2017, 127.4 times the 1978 level.

Accounting for 12.13% of the country's total exports, 36.8% of the total global textile and clothing trade, the industry's net foreign exchange earnings of $241.9 billion, accounting for 57.3% of the country.

Textile industry is committed to improving people's livelihood and serving the people.

In the areas of people's livelihood, such as clothing, food, housing, and transportation, clothing can best meet the needs of people's livelihood, and the status of the people's livelihood industry is becoming increasingly.

In 1978, the textile industry employed 3.112 million people, accounting for 7.2 percent of the country's industrial enterprises.

In 2017, the number of employed people in the whole industry exceeded 20 million.

In 2015, 9.462 million people were employed in enterprises above the national scale, accounting for 10 percent of the country's total.

The textile industry has become the core force supporting the smooth operation of the world textile industry system by persisting in opening up to the outside world and optimizing entry and output, and the status of the international competitive advantage industry has become more prominent.

According to WTO statistics, in 2016, China's textile exports accounted for 37.20% of the world's textile exports, and China's clothing exports accounted for 36.40% of the world's apparel exports.

The textile industry and the vast number of textile enterprises rely on the platform of the Canton Fair and the bridge to the world.

As a window for China to look into the world and for the world to understand China, the Canton Fair has witnessed and contributed to the great achievements of China's textile industry as a powerful textile power in the world.

With the continuous development of reform and opening up, the Canton Fair will also provide opportunities for more small and medium-sized textile and garment enterprises to open up the international market.

The textile and garment industry plays an important role in promoting China's "Belt and Road" initiative.

As the basic industry of people's livelihood, the textile and garment industry is an important field that many "Belt and Road" countries aspire to develop their industries, and it is also the most operable and popular industry that can produce remarkable win-win results.

In recent years, in the process of "going out" of the textile industry, the industry has exported advanced equipment, superior production capacity, and successful experience to the "Belt and Road" countries and regions in demand, extending the local industrial chain, and constantly filling the gap in development.

Promote local economic and social development.
